Pomegranate beneficial for numerous ailments



Some fruits are also included in the clan of Indian traditional medicines. These herbs have proved their efficiency from old days and now they are widely used all over the world. Not all fruits have great history and are been used for almost all purpose. According to Islam ,’ pomegranates are grown in paradise’ thus makes this fruit special in all terns. Not just Islam, but almost all religions have mentioned pomegranates come from the world of heaven.

Pomegranates have a great importance in the world of Indian traditional medicines- Ayurveda. The Ayurvedic researchers have mentioned its benefits long ago. Derived from Latin, it means apple seeded. This fruit in the early English period was known as apple of Grenada. Originally resident of Iranian plateau, this fruit is now cultivated all across the globe. This fruit is highly admired for its culinary and medicinal purpose. A deciduous shrub, pomegranate blossoms bright red color flowers with round reddish orange fruit.

As we mentioned that it is highly valued in Ayurvedic medicines- pomegranate is richest source of energy and vitamin C. They are also good source of vitamin B6 and potassium. The anti-oxidants present in the fruits are highly beneficial in removing all toxic elements from the body. They are beneficial in curing many ailments such as:

  • Pomegranate juice is beneficial in reducing the risk of heart strokes. They protect our body from creating lipoproteins or bad cholesterol due to its anti-oxidant agents.
  • The consumption of this juice helps in dissolving blood clots that blocks arteries.
  • Intake of this juice also helps in overcoming weakness and malaise during menopause.
  • Pomegranates are rich source of vitamin A, E,C and folic acid. Thus, adding this fruit to numerous dishes.
  • Regular intake of pomegranate juice lowers down the risk of developing Alzheimer’s diseases.
  • It is very much beneficial in strengthening immune system- It improves the defense mechanism  and prevents formation of cancerous cells.
  • As it contains good amount of anti-oxidants- flavonoids that combats actions of cancerous radicals and thus encourage good health.
  • Pomegranate is the best remedy to cure anemia. It helps in preventing symptoms such as extreme weakness, hair loss, giddiness, and tiredness. It provides good amount of iron- and completes iron deficiency.
  • A decoction prepared from pomegranate seeds is used in the treatment of syphilis. This juice helps in curing diarrhea and jaundice.
  • The pulp and seeds of pomegranate aids stomach aches.
  • Intake of this juice cures skin inflammation.

Apart from medicinal purpose, pomegranates seeds are also used in culinary purposes. They are widely used in the Indian and Pakistan cuisines.
