Turmeric has long been heralded for its medicinal and healing properties. Turmeric is said to be a relative of ginger. Turmeric root is generally dried up and this will be ground into a fine powder, which then gets added to dishes and recipes. When added to a dish, turmeric tends to impart a goldenish tinge.
