The ampalaya plant falls under the category of tropical plant which possesses slim and climbing vines. This plant is known to show up in July or August, and is replete with its long flowering stalks. The fruits from these vines will emerge in the months of September and October. These fruits are long and bumpy, and are similar to a cucumber or zucchini squash. The plant, by itself is green, and but it becomes yellow/orangish when it is ripe. All the parts of this plant are said to be utilized for some or the other medicinal purposes – the stalk, fruit, vines and seeds. The fruit, however, continues to be the most popular part of this plant.
